Start with the latest drawing revision
Include a 3D model where possible and a controlled 2D drawing for dimensions, tolerances, datums, notes and acceptance criteria. State which file controls if the model and drawing differ.
Define the commercial production context
Provide prototype quantity, expected batch size, annual demand, delivery destination and target timing. These inputs affect process choice, tooling, material purchase and inspection planning.
Identify the critical technical requirements
- Material grade and applicable specification
- Surface finish, treatment and protected areas
- Critical dimensions and geometric tolerances
- Required inspection reports or material records
- Assembly, cleanliness, marking and packaging needs
Leave room for clarification
A responsible supplier should flag missing information and manufacturing conflicts before quoting. Record assumptions so price and delivery comparisons are based on the same scope.
