Jingxi Precision Helps a US Aerospace and Mechanical Client Achieve Mass Production of High-Precision, Complex Parts

Project Background

Shanghai Jingxi Precision Machinery Co., Ltd., a leading domestic provider of custom CNC machining services for precision parts, has long provided high-precision, highly complex mechanical parts machining solutions to global clients, leveraging its full range of high-end equipment including 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis machining centers, wire EDM, and Swiss-type lathes. In 2025, we successfully established a deep partnership with a well-known US machinery and aerospace manufacturing company, providing customized machining services for core precision components in its aerospace and high-end machinery sectors.

This US client has been deeply involved in the machinery, aerospace, and high-end machinery manufacturing fields for decades, and has near-stringent requirements for the precision, material properties, and reliability of its components. After multiple rounds of technical evaluation and sample verification, Jingxi Precision, with its comprehensive machining capabilities, strict quality control system, and rich experience in handling difficult-to-machine materials, ultimately stood out from numerous global suppliers to become this client’s core strategic partner in the Asia-Pacific region.

Project Challenges and Technical Requirements

This collaboration covers various core functional components such as shaft parts and precision guide rails, with products directly applied to the transmission systems and precision mechanisms of aerospace vehicles. The project faces multiple technical challenges:
High material processing difficulty: The parts involve three high-end materials: AISI 4130 alloy steel, AISI H11 hot work die steel, and Inconel 718 high-temperature alloy. Inconel 718, as a nickel-based superalloy, is characterized by high high-temperature strength, severe work hardening, and poor thermal conductivity, making it a recognized difficult-to-machine material. This places extremely high demands on tool selection, cutting parameters, and cooling systems.

Stringent precision requirements: The critical dimensional tolerances of all parts must reach ±0.005mm, equivalent to 1/16th the diameter of a human hair. This means that every step in the entire machining process, from clamping and positioning, tool compensation to temperature control, must be precisely controlled at the nanometer level; any minute error could lead to the scrapping of the part.
Complex surface treatment: The parts require multiple special processes, including heat treatment, black anodizing, and sandblasting. Heat treatment requires precise control of quenching temperature and tempering parameters to ensure the material reaches the specified hardness and mechanical properties; black anodizing requires the formation of a uniform and dense protective film without affecting critical dimensional accuracy; sandblasting requires control of abrasive grain size and blasting pressure to achieve consistent surface roughness.

Jingxi Precision’s Solution:

To address the project’s high-difficulty requirements, Jingxi Precision assembled a dedicated technical team and developed a comprehensive precision machining solution:
Multi-axis linkage precision machining: Fully leveraging the advantages of 5-axis machining centers, complex curved surfaces can be machined in a single setup, avoiding cumulative errors from multiple setups. For different material characteristics, we customized dedicated cutting tools and machining parameters: the AISI 4130 employs a high-speed cutting strategy, the AISI H11 uses carbide tools for step-by-step machining, and the Inconel 718 uses ceramic tools with a high-pressure internal cooling system, effectively solving work hardening and tool wear problems. The coordinated use of Swiss-type lathes and slow wire EDM equipment ensures the cylindricity of shaft parts and the straightness of slideways.

End-to-End Quality Control: A three-tiered quality control system of “first-piece inspection – in-process inspection – final inspection” has been established. Each processing equipment is equipped with an online inspection system, and critical dimensions are checked for accuracy every five pieces processed. The constant temperature and humidity processing workshop environment effectively avoids the impact of temperature changes on accuracy. The full-process involvement of precision inspection equipment such as coordinate measuring machines, profilometers, and roughness testers ensures that the dimensional tolerance of each product is strictly controlled within ±0.005mm.

Integrated Special Processing: The heat treatment process uses a vacuum heat treatment furnace, precisely controlling the heating, holding, and cooling curves to ensure uniform material hardness and minimal deformation. The black anodizing process uses an environmentally friendly process to form a uniform thickness and strong adhesion oxide film. Sandblasting selects appropriate abrasives and process parameters according to different materials, achieving ideal surface effects without damaging the precision of the parts. All special processes are completed in-house, realizing an integrated closed loop of processing, treatment, and inspection.

Project Outcomes and Customer Value

After six months of stable mass production, Jinxi Precision has delivered thousands of precision parts to the US customer, achieving a 99.8% first-pass yield and 100% compliance with ±0.005mm accuracy requirements for key dimensions. All parts passed the customer’s rigorous testing and verification, demonstrating superior performance and reliability under extreme conditions of high temperature, high pressure, and high load.

Jinxi Precision’s professional capabilities have been highly recognized by the customer, and a long-term cooperation agreement has been signed. The success of this project not only showcases the strength of Chinese precision manufacturing in high-end fields but also lays a solid foundation for Jinxi Precision’s expansion into the North American aerospace market. In the future, Jinxi Precision will continue to uphold the philosophy of “Precision Creates Value, Quality Shapes the Future,” providing global customers with even better precision machining solutions.
